Gretag AG was established in Switzerland in 1946. Gretag Color Control Systems - a division within Gretag AG that focussed on color measurement and color quality control products - became an independent profit center in 1979. In 1984 they produced the first portable spectrophotometer and in 1997 merged with the Macbeth division of Kollmorgen Instruments Corporation.

Wow; so this was the Macbeth part of what was to become Gretag-Macbeth? What was the Gretag part doing at that time, if they existed then?
